Bill Leys Presents Seminar at JLC Live in Providence RI

The room filling up before the start.

Our seminar is scheduled and ready to start!
Over 30 east coast contractors from New Jersey, Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts New Hampshire and New York filled the room at the Rhode Island Convention Center on Thursday March 20 to hear me present a 3 hour seminar on Best Construction Practices in Building and Waterproofing Decks.

Attendees learned about the various Division Seven Pedestrian Traffic Coatings available, their differences, pro's and con's and how to select the proper system for the job at hand.

The Powerpoint based seminar also reviewed construction methods for building a decks framing and substrates for tile and pedestrian coatings.

Several editors from Hanley Wood's JLC magazine also sat in on the presentation.

The presentation at JLC coincided nicely with the publication of the new issue of JLC, which featured our new article on deck drains and scuppers.

I received a nice round of applause  at the end of the session. I thank the attendees and JLC Live staff, especially Julie Clifford and Olivia Espinosa for having me at JLC in Providence! I hope to see you at JLC in Portland again next year.

Look What We Found Under This Failing Deck Coating

So here we are today working on a house in Varian Ranch in Arroyo Grande CA. As we were demo'ing some of the deck where the metal lath system has rusted out, something moved when our prybar was scraping open an area. We found a little lizard guy under the coating, enjoying a damp shaded place out of the sun!

Hmmm, could we have found the cause of decks seemingly falling apart by themselves? Could it be the lizards that are destroying our decks? Great Scott Batman!

Well today's article is on us! Thanks Rebecca for a great job and hitting the mark perfectly! As we preach, it's cheaper to maintain than replace.

CENTRAL COAST WATERPROOFING Teams With All Seasons Restoration to Apply Desert Crete at Carpenteria HOA

Central Coast Waterproofing has signed a contract with All-Seasons Restoration of Oxnard to provide and install Desert Crete decking to decks at an HOA in Carpenteria.

"ASR recognizes the superior durability and quality that Desert Crete offers; and appreciates that Central Coast Waterproofing is a team player and a superior contractor,

dedicated to proper installation, support and warranties of the product." said Bill Leys, owner of Central Coast Waterproofing.

The HOA in Carpenteria is an older complex with deteriorating decks that recognized they needed to be repaired and waterproofed with a high quality product. Located off the 101, the second floor entry decks are apx 100 square feet each, and are the only entry into the second floors. The fast drying Desert Crete materials allow resident access at the end of each day, and save money by not forcing residents relocations while the work progresses.

For your HOA decking needs, consider Desert Crete, the superior alternative to other decking systems. Call Bill Leys for your free estimate at 805-801-2380.

Central Coast Waterproofing To Reseal and Repair decks at Fashion Park HOA in Oxnard

I'm happy to announce our first contract with All-Seasons Restoration Inc. has been entered into to provide repair and resealing services to Fashion Park HOA on Saviers in Oxnard CA.

Thirty eight units with entry decks and balconies off the master bedrooms are scheduled to be repaired and resealed using Desert Brand products from Hill Brothers Chemical Company.

In keeping with our standards, details on the contract are not being made public.

Fashion Park HOA had Desert Brand's Desert Crete decking installed apx. 6 years ago under my management while I was employed with another decking firm. The Associations needs for a tough durable system that had a lower cost of ownership in reserve costs has been succesfully met at this Association that has lots of kids and whose decks see plenty of wear and tear. With the exception of stair edges that need repair because of a lack of nosings, the decks have handled the use and abuse just as we expected.

Mike DeJong will manage the project for All-Seasons Restoration.

If you are an HOA that would like to restore or repair your decks and receive the benefits of low cost of ownership, high quality coating and a professional installation by Central Coast Waterproofing, I invite you to call me personaly at 805-801-2380.

We service all of California, any HOA, anywhere, anytime.
