CSLB is a consumer protection agency that investigates claims by consumers regarding contractors licensed by the agency to perform construction. Most times when they investigate they have arbitration's that aren't subject to public disclosure.
It takes some really egregious violations to get referred to the state Attorney General's office for civil or criminal prosecution, but DeckTech handily managed to so so.
If you look up DeckTech's license at CSLB (796956) you'll see that they are in the sights of the AG and what charges they face-five total, ranging from taking to large a deposit to abandoning the job to being paid to much for the work they performed. Yeah, bad stuff.
DeckTech also has a pending suit against them by a client who filed the complaint with CSLB.
Be very careful about contracting with Decktech and be aware that if their license is suspended or revoked, your "warranty" will only be useful as toilet paper.
Remember, never pay more than 10% or $1,000 down as a deposit. Never pay a contractor unless you get a conditional lien release from them. Never pay in advance for work that isn't done. See CSLB's website for more information about protecting yourself as a consumer.

We Contributed our Experiences on Exterior Building Maintenance for New England Condominium Magazine
Our latest contribution to maintenance of condo's appears in the March issue of New England Condominium.
Staying Ahead of Trouble
Building Exteriors Need Regular Checkups, Too
By Lisa Iannucci
Remember the old jingle, ‘it takes a licking and keeps on ticking’? It was the famous tagline from the Timex watch advertisements. The gist of the ad is that no matter what you threw at it, a Timex watch kept working.
If you think about it, a building’s exterior is almost like a Timex watch. Each year, Mother Nature throws its best curveballs – intense sun, high winds, fierce rains, heavy loads of snow and ice, and frigid temperatures – at the outside of your condo buildings. Don’t forget the pollution, dirt from such animals as pigeons and, of course, any items that accidentally hit the exterior. The exterior continues to stand and takes it all in. Well, almost. A building’s exterior can take a lot of abuse, but after time, it does begin to show wear and tear and needs some TLC.

Bond Alert for Clients of Deck Tech of Grover Beach Current Bond Will Be Cancelled as of 8 23 14 for Multiple Claims Made Against the Bond
Contractors and consumers who are in contract with Deck Tech Inc of Grover Beach should know that their license bond is being cancelled as of 8 23 2014.
It is unusual and not typical that a bond is cancelled by a bond company. Typical reasons for cancellation are to many claims against the bond and/or being uncooperative in assisting with a claim against a bond.
No reasons are provided at CSLB's website, BUT the bond company was happy to answer our questions as to why their bond was being cancelled.
Reason bond is being cancelled -Multiple claims made against their bond.
You are invited to make your own inquiries to HCC Surety at (310) 649-0990
From the CSLB website-
- Failure to maintain continuous bond coverage will result in the license being suspended. Any work performed while the license is suspended is considered to be unlicensed and disciplinary action can be taken against you.
Any work done while a contractor's license is suspended is illegal and most importantly, DeckTech cannot legally collect for any such work done while their license is suspended.
Please check the status of DeckTech's license here to see if they have a new bond on or before the 23rd of August. https://www2.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/LicenseDetail.aspx?LicNum=796956
